Cerrina Monferrato stands on green rolling hills, amid beautiful views and romantic little lanes.
It lies in the heart of the Cerrina Valley, once known as the Stura Valley after the stream of the same name that flows through the hamlet of Valle.
In 1835, when the royal road (stradale regio) was being rebuilt, the blacksmith Giovanni Battista Ombra moved his workshop from the main village of Cerrina to the Valle area, anticipating and setting in motion the growth of trade, of the first industries and of commercial traffic.
There is no shortage of architectural evidence of a flourishing past: in the main village you can admire the Casaforte, a fortified house of fourteenth-century Gothic origin with terracotta single-light windows.
The castle, built by the Lords of Malvengo (who in 1388 were named Lords of Montalero by the Marquises of Monferrato) and already defended against the French attacks of 1656, is today an accommodation venue after a careful restoration.
Why experience Cerrina?
Our hills, quiet and lush, safeguard an incredible biodiversity. This is a land that has kept its authenticity by preserving its natural beauty and the traditions of Monferrato: the ideal place to spend a weekend of outdoor activities and the flavours of days gone by.
